Places to Eat and Drink in Dolgellau
Our favourite local eateries
One of the best things about staying at Fro Awel is having Dolgellau’s cafés, pubs, restaurants and local food shops within easy reach. Whether you’re planning a relaxed breakfast before a walk, coffee and cake after exploring, a cosy pub meal, a takeaway night in, or a special evening out, Dolgellau has plenty of choice for a small market town in the heart of Snowdonia.
Fro Awel has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering stays, but there are also lots of tempting places nearby when you want someone else to do the cooking. From historic cafés and independent wine bars to family-friendly pubs, takeaways and refined dining, the local food scene is part of what makes a holiday in Dolgellau so enjoyable.
Almost all of the places listed here are within a couple of minutes walking distance of Fro Awel. The main exceptions are George III and Penmaenuchaf Hall, both around two miles away and easily reached by bike or on foot via the Mawddach Trail, avoiding most road walking. Cross Foxes is a little further out, around four miles from Dolgellau, but it is well worth the short drive.
